Making Scripture Come Alive
Many parents struggle to get their children to engage with the Bible. Reading long chapters can feel like a chore for young minds. But when we make scripture study interactive, children look forward to it as a daily adventure.
Here are five fun methods to transform your family devotion time:
1. The Draw-the-Verse Challenge
Read a short passage (like a Psalm or a parable) and give your child a blank sheet of paper. Ask them to draw what they visualize. This helps active learners lock in the story.
2. Bible Word Scrambles & Puzzles
Turn memory verses into games. Write the verse on separate cards and mix them up, then let your child race to put the words in the correct order. (You can also play this in our Play Hub!)
3. Character Roleplay
Instead of just reading about Daniel or Esther, act it out! Let your child play the hero and speak their declarations. Experiencing the emotion of the text anchors it deeply.
4. The Verse Rhyme Challenge
Turn key scriptures into short rhythmic chants. For John 10:27, we say: "My sheep hear my voice, and they follow my choice!" Rhymes make scripture easy to remember.
5. Ask three simple questions:
- What did God do in this story?
- What does this teach me about myself?
- How can I live this out today?
