A family prayer altar is not about creating a long, dry church service inside your living room. It is about creating a warm, interactive space where children experience God's love, study scripture, and pray together as a family.
Here is a simple 4-step framework to establish consistency:
1. Gather (3 mins)
Keep it warm and active. Sing a simple praise song or review the slang of the week. Let the children pick the song or lead the beat.
2. Read (5 mins)
Read one short story or recap a weekly Academy lesson. Ask: "What did we learn about God in this story?" Keep children engaged by asking questions.
3. Declare (2 mins)
Recite a family scripture rhyme. For example: "When we hear voices, we make choices!"
4. Pray (5 mins)
Take prayer points from everyone, especially the children. Pray in simple, honest words. Encourage kids to pray for their friends, school, and fears.
Consistency beats length. Just 15 minutes of dynamic engagement daily will anchor your family altar for years to come!
