Dealing with Childhood Fears Using Scripture

Arming Children Against FearIt is natural for children to experience fear. Whether it is a fear of the dark, failure at school, or social anxiety, these moments are invitations to teach them how to trust God. We can equip them to use scripture as an active shield of peace. Here are three practical steps to guide them through fear:#### 1. Validate, Don't Dismiss

When your child expresses fear, don't say "there is nothing to be afraid of." Instead, acknowledge it: "I understand you feel scared right now. Let's see what God says when we feel this way."

1. Validate, Don't Dismiss

When your child expresses fear, don't say "there is nothing to be afraid of." Instead, acknowledge it: "I understand you feel scared right now. Let's see what God says when we feel this way."#### 2. Find the Peace Verse Equip them with a key verse to memorize and recite when afraid, such as Psalm 56:3: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You." Teach them that reciting this scripture is like opening a direct phone line to the Prince of Peace.#### 3. Breathe and Pray When fear strikes, have them take a deep breath, close their eyes, and speak: *"Dear God, thank You because You are with me right now. Your love protects me. Amen."*Helping them practice this builds a lifelong habit of turning to God in moments of crisis.
